Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray

Why we recommend it:

We like this tray because it's large enough to accommodate coloring books and drawing paper, and the extra-high edges help keep toys and crayons from escaping--even if the tray is at an angle (from the sloping car seat). The side pockets are helpful, but a small toddler may not be able to reach much in them. Since it's soft, you can roll or fold it to stuff beneath your stroller, too hands free for the luggage cart, your child's stroller, too.

Universal Car Seat Canopy

Why we recommend it:

If you've used an infant carrier car seat, you already know the benefits of having a sun canopy in the car. This canopy helps create a shady retreat for kids in convertible and toddler car seats, and also helps keep headlights and street lights from disrupting nighttime sleep. This model works with virtually all brands of car seats in either forward- or rear-facing positions, so long as they have side supports or "wings" (as shown in photo). Filters 90% of UVA and UVB rays. An additional visor can be lowered from the position shown here.

Car Seat Head Cradler

Why we recommend it:

Especially great for older children who no longer benefit from a recline in forward-facing car seats, though it's designed to grow with children from infancy up to 5 years old. This clever cushion lends support where it's needed most at nap time, preventing head from slumping forward and only slightly to the side.

Taby Tray

Why we recommend it:

While on the road or on the airplane, car seats often have to serve double duty when dinner time rolls around. This tray helps keep meals, snacks, and cups within easy reach, and can also be helpful for reading, coloring, and other activities during long flights. It will NOT work on car seats with armrests that slope downward or boosters with chest protector shields. It WILL work with nearly all car seats with regular armrests or overhead shields (when shield is lowered in front of the child), and with booster seats that have normal armrests or no armrests. Meets safety requirements for use in moving car. 19"L x 15.5"W.

The PiddlePad

Why we recommend it:

Long hours spent in the car seat only increase the risk of diaper leaks and blowouts (especially during potty training). Not to worry. This car seat liner can help contain accidents using a quilted terry liner to wick away moisture from your child. A waterproof vinyl shell protects the car seat. You may want one for your stroller, too! Machine washable. Available in blue or black.

The Pac Back

Why we recommend it:

Simplifies getting the car seat through airports and elsewhere, while leaving your hands free for the luggage cart, your child's stroller, or your carry-on. The rigid back, padded shoulder and waist straps, and lumbar support help make even heavy car seats like the Marathon tolerable to carry.. Quick-release buckles get it onto the X-ray scanner in a snap. Supports car seats and boosters up to 45 lbs. Bonus: It comes with a lightweight drawstring backpack for storage (or toting extra goodies).

Gogo Kidz by GoGo BabyzGoGo Kidz Universal Travelmate

Why we recommend it:

Roll your car seat--and even your child strapped into it--through the terminal with ease (and possibly right down the aisle of some large aircraft). The new Universal Travelmate is compatible with MANY different car seats (including Britax, Eddie Bauer, Evenflo, Graco, and Safety 1st). Adjust the telescoping handle to 47.5" or 50.5" when pushing, and keep your cart attached during your flight (but not during trips in the car). Attaches and detaches quickly and easily with two knobs. Wide-set 5" rollerblade wheels provide stability, while the entire cart accommodates the max. weight allowed for your car seat. It weighs a mere 5 lbs. and folds up flat to 5" x 16" x 28". onvertible, toddler, and extended use car seats from Britax, Eddie Bauer, Evenflo, Graco, and Safety 1st, to name a few. Click link above for more information on specific models. (A GoGo Kidz car seat cover is now available too, which works with the TravelMate.)

The Traveling Toddler Car Seat Solution

Why we recommend it:

It's so simple, it's so affordable, it's so smart. We were delighted to discover this great new product that secures your child's convertible or toddler car seat right to your rolling suitcase using the LATCH and tether straps--with your child secured in her seat! So long as your suitcase handle locks in place, you can push your child right up to the gate (and if not, you can roll her behind you). We found it works well with both medium-size suitcases down to our smallest rolling carry-on bag--though with small carry-on suitcases, you will be happiest with those that have a higher handle height (some tend to be on the shorter side). It's been tested and proven to work with major brand car seats including Graco, Eddie Bauer, Cosco, Evenflo, and Britax (and probably any toddler car seat that has LATCH and tether straps). It's rated to support up to 900 lbs., so your car seat + child should be no problem. When not in use, you can fit it in your pocket--now that's traveling light.

The Snuzzler Infant Support Cushion

Why we recommend it:

Most infants are so small they almost get "lost" in their car seats. This award-winning infant cushion is ideal for newborns, giving them total support where they need it on those early rides in the car seat--and also in the stroller. It continues to give babies added comfort as they grow, with its height-adjustable head support. The Snuzzler also works marvelously in jogging strollers. Height adjustable head support. Designed to work with all types of seat harnesses without rethreading straps. Machine washable.

Safe Fit Car Seat Cover N Carry Case

Why we recommend it:

Get three in one: 1) Wear it on your back as you wheel other luggage to check in. 2) Roll it through the airport to your gate either for gate-checking or use on the aircraft. 3) Turn this carry case inside out and it becomes a fitted protector for your child's car seat, keeping it up to 40% cooler and preventing the sun from fading its cover. You may also be able to "piggy back" this carrying case onto your large rolling suitcase by attaching the carrying handle with a luggage strap. 19" x 19" x 37"H.

Ultimate Car Seat and Booster Carrier Case

Why we recommend it:

Two birds with one bag: This padded car seat/booster seat carrying case not only protects your car seat when checked, but it's is also made to be worn as a backpack--leaving your hands free to roll suitcases, push a stroller, or present boarding passes and I.D. It's also useful when you aren't sure if your lap child will get an extra seat on the flight--just wear it to your gate and check it at the jetway if you must. Fits most major car and booster seats, including Peg Perego, Cosco, Evenflo, Century, Baby Trend, and all Britax car seats except for the Husky. 33" x 18" x 19".

Rolling car seat / booster travel bag

Why we recommend it:

Heavy car seats and high-back boosters glide on these oversized wheels, while rugged 420 denier nylon with a coated lining keeps your car seat clean and dry. Pull by the handle or attach to your rolling suitcase piggy-back style. Plenty of room inside for large car seats and the bigger boosters, plus jackets and other items you may want to access on arrival. Entire front panel unzips for easy loading. 20"W x 32"H x 22"D.

Dex Hands-Free Car Seat Cover N Carry Case

Why we recommend it:

Considering that it supports up to 100 lbs (which we hope it will never have to), this car seat carrying case is built for the rigors of airline travel. So it follows that this backpack-style carrier has quick-release shoulder straps and exterior storage pockets to help streamline the check-in process. Reinforced carry handle on top as well. This bag also reverses to be used as a sun shade for your car seat during warm weather or when visiting hot climates. 17" x 18" x 29"H.

Sit-Rite Rear-facing Car Seat Leveler

Why we recommend it:

It's so simple, it's so basic, it's so much easier than rolling and folding up towels or blankets--especially as you travel. The Sit-Rite helps all infant and rear-facing car seats achieve the proper angle while adding stability in any range of vehicle seats. LATCH-compatible, works with infant carrier bases as well.
